Hornby can be quite adicting, use with caution.

I have found that the Hornby clockwork locos are pretty reliable, even at 60-80 years old. Lots of choices on couplers, axles, etc. You can never collect them all. Recently got a non-vintage Hornby Hachette PLM passenger streamliner that runs great.

I've had so much fun with the clockwork loco that I bought another Hornby. Can't wait for it to get here.
