My number board fell off my brand new Virginan, what should I do to re attach it?
Thank you all who replied, this was my first higher end steam engine and didn't want to send it in to get repaired and wait for ever.

A tiny drop of CA adhesive is what I'd use. A VERY sparing dab of Walther's Goo would also work, but it's pretty messy.
That's for replying and will glueing it on affect replacing the light bulbs?
I thought you were talking about the builder's plate, sorry!
The number boards are just pressed in, I've never glued them. I'd certainly start by pressing it back in place. If it won't stay, I'd consider clear parts cement.
I'm considering doing that, but I am worried that by using clear parts cement I won't be able to change the lights that illuminate the number plate
The light inserts from the rear, you don't take those out to replace the bulb.
Ok, if I took it to be repaired, would they just glue it back in?
Yes!!
Probably. We are talking about the "number boards", right? If so, get some Testor's Clear Parts cement. It has a fine applicator and use sparingly. It works great.
The "number plate" is the round thing on the front of the smokebox door.
Yes
Or use Elmer's white glue
Im probably buying Mr hobby cement

Never heard of it!
USE Elmer's or Testor's CLEAR PARTS cement!!!
What type of testors cement?
I use Testers clear parts cement for most things like windows and number boards. However, as I stated earlier, they're typically pressed in. I have to remove them to do LED upgrades to the pilot mounted lights, and they've never been glued in, just pressed in.
I'm so confused now. So I think I'll just call Lionel service tommorow
What is so confusing? It's very simple.
If I should glue it or not
Guys....we got an alert to some of the posts on this thread. For gosh sakes...you are talking to a 13 year old member here that is just trying to get some advice...have a little heart! I deleted quite a few of the responses toward the end because they were down right unfriendly. Left the ones that were trying to help.
OK....Alex....you can glue it in per some of the suggestions above. It will not affect you since the changing of the light bulbs will not require trying to remove the glued in number board. Enough said...
