Naming a railroad

Mine would have to be named, "dang, where'd that "Explicative" part just fly off to"...too long a name and what would ya do for a herald!

First, I want to thank everyone for all of the interesting information and comments.

I have decided on the Arctic Railroad.(Established 2013) That will let me use the Alaska roster as made (ARR) and , like they do in the winter, the Denali Star will become The Polar Express instead of the Aurora.

As a token of my appreciation, here is an audio clip of the NKP#759 pulling 10 passenger cars around the Horseshoe Curve in PA. Gotta love the Berkshire and it's deep toned whistle.

My railway is named after my sadly departed cat Mr. Greebo.

The full name of the railway is the 'Green River Eastern Extension Branch Operation', or the GREEBO for short.

Mine is the D&RG.....Denver NC to Rio Grande Ohio. I picked it for a number of reasons...one being I could use stock decals for my RR. And it would run through most all the real RR's I like in that region!

The late John Armstrong's O-Scale RR was the Canandaigua Southern, a New York State outfit that connected with the Erie, NYC, etc . . .

I wanted to custom letter a car for him for another connecting railroad, the Canajoharie, Skaneateles and Youghiogheny, but I just wasn't up to the decaling job . . .

In the 19th century many railroads were chartered with "& Pacific" in their title, primarily to attract Wall Street investment. There was a railroad building frenzy in the 1870-1900 period which was quite similar to the dot com craze of the 1990's. And hucksters existed then, as now, to fleece the "sheeple"!
