Debating on which model of cars to buy that are made by Lionel. The new 18" cars, $1149 on Ebay, or the older set numbered 15333? I saw these on Ebay for $549 for the 7 car set, new in the box. Are the new cars worth the extra money or would you go with the old set? Just wanted some opinions. Thanks.

For my money, I went with the MTH. Here is a listing for the 2 car add-on set. There is also a 5 car set and at least two other single car add-ons.

That $1149 price seems pretty much a retail number; something I would never pay on eBay. Just my $0.02

I suggest that in this case you start a thread in this Forum's "Want to Buy" section that may help you get the Lionel 18" cars at a much better price than what they are currently going for on the Bay.
In terms of quality for the 18" Lionel cars compared to other choices out there right now, you are comparing oranges to apples.
