some background.....I have a completely DCS environment.   It has been a while since i last operated my trains.  I use the 2 variable channels on the Z4000.   Throttle 1 basically operates the lower level, throttle 2 operates the upper level.   My lower level is operating fine.

My problem.   Turn the throttle to operate the upper level and it is shorting.  red light comes on and the Z is humming.  There is nothing on the tracks or laying across the track on the upper level.  I am sure to take all rolling stock and engines off....still shorting.

I disconnect from the terminal block..so completely taking the layout out of it.  I still get shorting.

So that tells me it is happening somewhere on the TIU side...is the actual Z or the TIU....as you would expect and I double checked...red from Z to TIU and black from Z to TIU then the same from TIU to terminal block...but even after disconnection from terminal block still shorting...doesn't it have to be the Z or the TIU?
