I have a 2240 single motor Wabash that had battery damage to the frame. I found a good frame on E-bay and pulled everything off the old frame. Rewired everything but the loco didn't move. I know I'm wired correctly because I had another vintage single motor F-3 to follow as a guild. I can touch a hot wire to the rollers and another to the motor and it will run. If I touch the wire to the rollers and the frame it won't run. The yellow wire going to the E-unit seems to be the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks Don

I do not have my manual in front of me but believe these locomotives used a grounding spring where the motor mounts to the frame and possibly that is missing.
If that's the "U" shaped spring it's there. Maybe I put in on upside down? Would that make a difference? What way should it be under the motor? Thanks Don
May be a ground problem. Did it appear the new frame was repainted? If so you must ensure all 'ground' areas are clear of paint: e unit mount; non-powered truck mount (pivot point), should be a small coil spring there; as you mentioned, the springy horseshoe shim for the powered truck/motor.
Sounds to me like a e-unit problem. It's not locked out?? Nah! Does the e-unit cycle seem OK?
If I give power to the E-unit it works but it gets no power when I touch the rollers and frame. Don
Run a separate wire from the grounded field lug to a screw tapped to the frame. I've had lots of F3's that perked up with this fix. The wavy washer is supposed to ground the motor to the frame, but sometimes doesn't.
