I got a new NW-2 switcher for Christmas PS2. I kept hearing this ratcheting sound and when I took the shell off the loco the flywheel is rubbing the underside of the shell

This is the flywheel with the Tach reader and it sits quite high. Theres a quarter inch gap between the flywheel and the motor case . I can see that the flywheel itself isn't all the way on the motor shaft (Shaft isn't flush with the top) BUT it is the correct height for the reader . I can't see any way to lower the reader????? Am I going to have to shim the shell out or is there a way to lower the reader and the flywheel?

Thanks Charly,

It's seated right in the truck block but I measured it and the motor shaft end is about an 1/8 of an inch down inside the flywheel where as on the other motor it's flush with the top. As I see it other than shimming out the body ,the only fix is to press the flywheel on farther.

Like I said though as it is right now the tach reader and the flywheel are the correct height so if I press the flywheel on farther to stop the rubbing I'm going to have to be able to adjust the tach reader too.

Thanks for the help guys but I just super glued 2 AN3 washers on all four corners of the shell It's a major PITA to get that motor out of there so I can press the flywheel on farther and I've spent all I'm gonna spend in shipping back to MTH and Lionel for a good While to come.

While this is not the on line hobby shop's fault I bought this from (His service is exemplary) This does say alot about buying from the LHS
