I have 3 square circuit modules that plug into the top portion of the electronics but don’t have any reference as to what order. They all have the same pin arrangement and are the same size. Someone gave me the engine basically disassembled and would I like to see if she’ll run. It is a Weaver 1560LP, 3 Rail, TMCC With Railsounds. I can’t find a picture of it with the shell removed.

Thanks...Rich

Rich....I just emailed four VO 1000 pictures to you. I lost my digital camera a while back and had to use an android tablet to get the pictures using google pictures. To help a bit the long hood end board is the R2LC receiver. Center is the sound board labeled Gend 05 Lionel trains. The cab end is the motor driver. Mine is marked 04-04 but that could vary. BTW this is a Train Anerica Studios setup. My loco does have the hardened grease and I will be cleaning the two drives out and re-greasing. Let me know if I can help with anything else or if you did not receive the pictures.

Rich...I got mine running except for railsounds. The only sound was engine running at high rpm even with out selecting the proper engine number. Resetting the R2LC to 43 fixed everything. Apparently 43 is a Weaver specific  as I don't see it in Lionel's table of reset codes. Have you had any luck with your's? That grease in mine was nasty.

Richard

Hi Richard, glad to hear you got her going. They are nice looking switchers. I don’t know what the problem with mine is. It starts, goes maybe 10’ or so, then stops. I nudge it and it might go a bit, then stops again. Sometimes it will start with sounds, other times it won’t. It’s almost like it hits a dead spot on the track or antenna issue, but the antenna looks solid. Sound and lights just stop instantly. The track is good, no problems with other engines. I had another Weaver TMCC with intermittent sound, Gary at Weaver said they had a batch of bad speakers, but that wouldn’t explain the start/stop issue. I may have to make it a dummy if I can’t find a cure, Shame. I will check the grease too!

Hi Mike and thanks for the illustrations. Richard was kind enough to send me pics of his engine boards off-line. I’ll take a closer look at the pinout diagram.

Rich

Backpacker kudos Mike. Thanks for the diagram on the TAS EOB pinouts. The VO 1000 I have does not have a tach strip on a flywheel so i'm thinking it is not a EOB (cruise) equipped loco. the saw is a V1.5. 43 was the magic number to wake it up. I have a Weaver pdf that address the EOB equipped Weavers and also uses 43 as the R2LC number to use. Is there another? Reason I asked is that I have a complete board set purchased from a member (2 railer) that had no use for it. It is out of a 3rd rail Pennsy K4. BTW the cruise mb matches your diagram. Question..can a EOB setup be used on any DC can motor or do I need a tach strip and pickup to get it working? Thanks for saving me a lot of time and effort.

Richard

Rich..Thanks for the response. It sounds a bit like the grease problem is stopping your loco. I actually had to do both trucks twice to get things moving. First time around I thought they were free and they bound up after a little running. Runs good now. Does you loco have the tach strip on one motor? Just curious.

Richard  EOB requires the tach strip.
