Hello,

These boxcars are listed as Premier on the product webpage and they are under that category on the archive site as well. I was under the impression that this was a brand new tooling from Atlas, so I would expect them to be in the trainman or master product line. Was this a product under development by MTH that is being released by Atlas or was this just an accident. This is mainly a question for @Paul Graf, but I imagine other people will be interested in knowing the answer. Thanks.

If Premier Line no longer means ex-MTH tooling, is Master Line going away?  If not, what will be the difference between Premier and Master?

IMO, all 3 lines make sense.  Premier sits in the middle between Trainman and Master line.   MTH Premier often was compared to Master line products, but IMO wasn't quite there in either rolling stock or locomotives.  I am glad Atlas has premier line offerings, while I favor master line, I have both trainman and premier line products along with the master line products.

This is all new tooling, all design from Atlas.  As mentioned later in this thread, this car is coming from the same factory as the other Premier items, so that played into the branding.  As we did not do all of the different variations possible, we did not deem it to be a Master level car, and it is better detailed than the Trainman cars, so it made the most sense to put it in the Premier line.

How many variations were built for the real cars?
