A very colorful and fun set.  However, see the pic of the loco power truck.  The diecast sideframes are oddly bent.  Would this bother fellow Lionel fans or should I overlook it?  I guess I am curious how this happens...there is no stress on it or fatigue marks.  Also, while my previously received JC Yard Boss was perfect, this set was a victim of the Lionel razor slash set opener that we have seen in the recent past.  I assume the diesels are made by MKT and added to the set which is made at Early Light.  Whereas the 0-4-0 steamer is made at Early Light.

I do find it interesting how some of these things arrive. Makes you wonder what has happened to it. I haven't had anything like this yet, but it does look odd. I guess if it runs well, without problems and looks ok on the tracks I might not do anything and just live with it. I would really have to see it in person before saying I could live with it. Not having to send it back is worth a lot, but I would call the manufacturer about it. Maybe they can just send you a replacement part or something.

I will work something out.  Its a good set and I recommend it.  It has that amazing postwar look and IMO is more interesting that any of the CC sets with exception of the Girls Train remake.  The JC Yard Boss is a good one too!

I will post detailed pics of this set once I figure out a plan of action.

Next up...NW-2's!!  Can't wait for the BN and B&O.

Glad to hear about the "postwar look." Right up my alley!

I've got the B&O NW-2on pre-order.

Hi Mike W.,

I'm glad you started this thread as I'm curious about this set. I was thinking I might get the engine and run it with my childhood 8654 B&M Geep. I'm assuming the blue will match, but you never know. If possible, could you share a pic of the engine body?

Also, how does it run? Does it run fast like a Williams engine, or closer to scale speed?

Thanks!

Hey, we are supposed to be heading toward the holidays and you want me to work?

I am taking the rest of the week end off, but I will check the set on Monday and let you know what I find.  It also gives me time to bring a PW Boston & Maine Geep body into the office and see how they compare.

I would not hold out a lot of hope that the paint will be an exact match to the PW original , but that really does not matter IMO.  In the real world, the shades of paint varied from diesel to diesel with the same paint schemes.  The differences will make the new B &M GP-9 look more authentic.
