This is not a complaint, but a note of caution.  After an hour of runtime, my H-10 "Pennsylvania Lines" sound began to crackle and pop.  No other sounds could be heard. The noise did not stop until I turned off the ZW-L transformer.  (Shut down sequence did not work.)   When I turned the transformer back on, the engine operated normally and the noise was gone.  (I may need a YLB electronic battery if space in the tender allows.)

I noticed the left handrail on the top of the Lines West Tender had moved backward over the red tender deck by over 1/2" while running.  The railing had not been glued in place by the factory.

These observations are for your assistance.  Check detail parts to make sure the factory secured them in place.

I like the H-10 "Pennsylvania Lines" steam engine and hope tonight's sound glitch is not indicative of other sound issues.  I ordered the #1773 H-10 Coal Hauler Set today before tonight's experience.  The H-10 steam engine is my best purchase in 2018.  This and my three Pennsylvania B6 Switchers are great little engines.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

Craig,  I have too many trains at Lionel for service and a new RA for my CSX Dining Car.  I have been playing phone tag on getting a replacement engine for my Vision Line GG1 #4913 that was back to Lionel three times and they cannot fix.  They are offering a replacement from a list of comparable engines.  I chose the C&O 2-6-6-2 #2522, but nothing has happened.  They have to procure an engine and get the supervisor to approve it, but he was out of the office last week.  It will soon be Christmas and I am feeling like I am getting snowed.

I am tired of listening to the "Doodle Doodle" music of Lionel Service wait time.  I still need two replacement coupler assemblies for my new Amtrak passenger cars from March of this year.  Nicholas Smith has been trying to get the Z-plate coupler assemblies for months.

Sincerely, John Rowlen

I hear you...but it makes me feel better to get the white elephants out of my train room, and onto Lionel’s workbench. While the waranty clock is ticking, I would want to take advantage of the free service, and have a pro tech responsible for fixing that railing, and the sound...not me.

I have plenty of other trains to run in the meantime.😄

I never understood why people send to Lionel service unless there is no other option.  If I get a bad one and it happens right away I just exchange it if possible at my dealer.  Nicholas Smith has no problem with that and they usually order extra on BTO products.  I guess it depends on your dealer but that is the first thing I try.  On my Mystery Machine set the one car had a wheel with a chunk out of it and the bottom of one of the trucks on the engine had the paint all chewed up.  I took them in and they swapped them out from another set, no issue.

If you are fortunate enough to live close to a shop, that works well.  But when one lives in train store barren wast land and must use mail order where shipping is always required, it does not make much difference.
