So after watching the Notch 6 pod cast Ryan revealed the New Hybrid locomotive will be released in Volume 2 and it will be a locomotive EAST of the Mississippi... So what could it be ?

If possible, I would like to see a "hybrid" common to a few of the Eastern giants, add details as necessary for each specific railroad, giving the customer a geographical choice which would match or parallel their individual layout.

This is the one I would vote for (NYC H10b) but if Lionel doesn't do one I will do it myself.

I got tired of waiting so have started to 3 rail this.

Pete, I'd be down for one

Me too.  So far, it's been tough on coming up with ideas, but if Lionel did a tooling for a USRA 4-8-2, then they would do some Brass Hybrid 4-8-2s.

Another suggestion would be to do an N&W 0-8-0 as brass hybrid:

They need to make 1:48th scale and 1:64th scale freight cars that have a stainless steel frame and brass body.

Examples:

American Car & Foundry FLEXI-FLO pressure-differential covered hoppers for NYC, PC, CR and others

American Car & Foundry ACF CENTER FLOW PRESSURAIDE pressure-differential 4-bay covered hoppers.

Thrall Car 60' Center Beam Flat Cars built between 1969 to 1987.

Greenville Steel Car Co. corrugated gondolas built for Chicago & North Western, Missouri Pacific, and Southern Pacific in the 1970's.

North American Car Company PD 5000 and PD 3000 pressure-differential covered hoppers.

Andrew

Texas & New Orleans (Southern Pacific) MK-5 #794, built 1916 by Brooks in Dunkirk, NY. Worked a good 40 years as a dual-service in Texas before being retired in '56 and donated to the City of San Antonio in '57. Plans are hovering for possible restoration, but until then she rests at Sunset Station.

Im what you call an advocator for the Texas & New Orleans. The MK-5 has only been done in limited numbers in smaller scales and the T&NO is practically a ghost in the O-Gauge department. Having been in her cab on two occasions and around the engine numerous times, I think that the 100 year old Mike would make a fine addition to any O-Gauge layout and possibly bring attention for subsidiary railroads and their surviving equipment.

Bob postedoes Lionel already have a diecast chassis and running gear for this loco?  Previous hybrids have all been made to fit an existing chassis, requiring no new tooling.

While the Mikado's may have fit the existing chassis, the new 4-4-0's are on a chassis I've yet to see made by Lionel.

Are they not from the Lincoln funeral train?  My guess...

No from what knowledge I have the golden spike engines are going to be all new tolling. This can be proven because when Dave and Ryan showed the plastic prototypes they looked like they were different from the Lincoln funeral train. Maybe I’m wrong but to me it looked like and make sense to do all new tooling.
