Welcome aboard Jared, I can tell by your post and pictures that our little club here just got a little richer. Speaking of clubs, the NJ HiRailers are having a show on Sunday, you can go to our website (  www. njhiirailers.com ) and check out the schedule.

If anyone is in northern nj near NYC I'm going to start having train nights to get together and bs about trains and run them

I am Jared!!! hahahha

Great idea, maybe include some how too's with the scenery, and folks could bring anything they are working on. You have a great layout there. with the layouts, could conventional trains run (prewar)?

PostwarKid  - Photo I found online of Rich's Hobbytown.  Never been able to find any photos of the museum on the ground floor.

That's the place

I used to ride my bicycle from Verona to Rich's via Route 80 which was still under construction.  Always had lunch at Wetsons nearby. The Museum only occupied a portion of the basement.  It was in the white area of the building. Not very large.  I did get a few hobby items displayed there.  Rich was very good to kids.

Hi Jared, Wow! You were one heck-of-a-lucky kid! That was a lot of layout happiness! And judging from the vibrancy of your smile, you were one heck-of-a-nice kid, too, which is reflected in this very pleasant self-introduction. Since we only get one chance to make a first impression, as it has been said, you certainly started off ideally on this forum. Have fun (as I'm sure you will.) And welcome aboard!

I found the boxcar.   It's mint.   You were the one looking for pictures of it?

That 4x8 layout was just the beginning.   We updated it with more switches and track for max action.  That will be in the basement next to the 8x16 I'm building now.   The 4x8 was fun.   Running 3 trains on it was complicated.   I'll get some pictures of the updates soon

I too have an extensive Postwar ALCO collection with variations and duplicates.

Which ALCOs are you looking to purchase?

I need the olive drab engines...  any prototype alcos....   thats about it.   I was talking to my grandfather today and he asked me what my alco count was up to including being given his and I couldn't answer it.   I might have over 200 lol.

The only Olive Drab i have is the Sante Fe. I do have multiples of the 209 New Haven with original boxes and 211's and and some various single A units. I may have a few MPC ALCO's too.
