Took delivery today of a new MTH Premier ACL E-6 diesel engine (20-20464-1). When powered up the sound is fine, but the engine does not move. When you program an engine back to factory settings, do you hit the program button, then one horn and five bells or do you just hit the one horn and five bells without hitting the program button first. Also, what voltage should there be for re-programming?

Just one horn and five bells (I assume you're referring to the black Program button on a Z-4000).
Voltage flexible, say 12V. You want to hear the quick double horn-blast acknowledgement that the reset command was accepted.
The program button on Z-4000 is for PS-1 only. So do as Stan stated. G
I finally got the engine to run. It must have been locked in neutral. You have to be pretty quick in pushing one horn and five bells. Now all is fine. The diesel sounds are great. Now, if I could only find an Atlantic Coast Lines caboose. Thanks to all for your help.
I would spend the cash for a DCS TIU and Controller. I think they are well worth the money just for the fun they add to running your MTH engines.
Another thing to consider is adding the Wi-Fi module to it later on. If you have an I phone or similar device.
In any case, I'm glad you got it running. I remember when I had to use my Z 1000 to set or reset an engine it was hit and miss most of the time. That was mainly because of my fat fingers!
I have an AA PS3 diesel...doing the same thing. I'm gonna try this.
