Okay, I know this is a tinplate train, and I also know of the tinplate forum.  But this runs on 3 rails, so I decided to post it here, so more folks could see it, and, hopefully appreciate it's beauty.  Sure, 710 series passenger cars are not supposed to run with 263E's, but I like the combination.  It is running Proto 3.0, but I run strictly conventional.  It smokes enough to fill a room with smoke within a few minutes, and my wife will probably make me clean the dining room light fixture after running it there.

I currently don't have a layout, hence the temporary dining room table set up.  The sounds are great, clear, and understandable.  The passenger set is only three cars, two pullmans and one observation.  I hunted and hunted, and was lucky enough to find another pullman.

When I finally get my layout built, I am thinking of running this one at the ceiling level.  Time will tell.  I have built and re-built my dream layout more times than I can remember, in my head.   I will start very soon, and I am seriously considering using Mianne benchwork.

So, please don't get all up in my stuff about posting this on the wrong board, just enjoy it for it's beauty.

Thanks for looking in.    Bob

Very nice train set. Don't know much about tinplate, but I think the loco and cars go well together, looks very nice as a set. I want to get some tinplate someday, but the regular MTH catalogs have been getting all my train funds before I get to the other catalogs the last few years.

I also just got my layout going last month and I chose the Mianne bench work. Started with a 6' x 16' kit that I want to expand on later as funds permit. I think you will really like it if you decide to use it. Very fast and easy, and you will be ready for track in no time.

Fortunately, I had enough foresight to set the track on the table pads.  Otherwise, I'd have been up sheetcreek without the proverbial paddle.

To everyone thinking about tinplate.  Stop thinking, and take the plunge!  I once had some great Lionel Corporation Tinplate, and thought I would specialize in it.  I lost my way, and direction, sold all the tinplate (including a super-nice Blue Comet set), and regretted every day since.  Now, I will get another couple of sets, and be satisfied with them.  Tinplate is beautiful, heavy, and I love it!  You will too!

I have a set of 710s (the orange ones that go with the tinplate 256 electric) and I have run them with my 263e. Like yours, look great.

I also built my latest layout with Mianne. Great product and think you'll be happy with it. I actually ordered it from their booth at York a year or so ago  and --hint -- hint -- if you buy from them at York they waive the shipping. That's quite a savings.

Well John, I can't get to York, but if you are going, please feel free to order me the Mianne benchwork.

I would bet, in the long run, the shipping would be a LOT less than the York trip. Sure would be in may case anyway.

Heck, I'm just happy I was able to take pictures and get them uploaded.  One of my sons is the video expert, but not available just now.  I know this because I spent about 60 K to send him to Ball State to study this.  It's a shame he can't use it for anything that generates an income.
