I vaguely remember visiting a car-barn in the city that had tracks going down a spiral to underground maintenance shops. The spiral walls had subway tiles. I am guessing that the car-barn was the Third Avenue Railway barn Uptown, about 182nd Street? Are there any interior pictures of Manhattan / Brooklyn car-barns?

Far uptown, the Kingsbridge Car House was located at 218th Street and Broadway. Perhaps this is the facility you visited?
