In ball park figures, what does one of those hi-rail trucks cost?  I know it will vary by what equipment is on it.  I saw one the other day with a small one man boom, welder, two vises on the rear bumper, cable steps plus the usual side tool boxes.  Can't be cheap.  I've never seen one in poor condition.  John in Lansing, ILL

Like that old saying "If you have to ask, you can't afford it!"

I know one person who has a pickup equipped with hi rail wheel set and two way radio he uses instead of a motor car when motorcar enthusiasts meet for motorcar runs.  He is not connected with any RR AFAIK.  Makes it easy to get on and off track rather than winching the car on/off the trailer. 

Must be nice to have that kind of money.
