(My question was answered by a Northern Pacific Railway Historical Association member 50 MINUTES after I emailed NPRHA with my question.  And it was answered with and NP paint diagram!)

The thread title is a mouthful, but it is what I'm looking for.

I'm about to paint two aluminum vista dome cars for my NP NCL train and need to know the dimension of the white stripe that separated the two greens.

I've looked on the web and did not find an answer.  And, I've poked around the NPRHA's website without finding the answer.  So, help me out here, please.

Thanks.

I'm sure if you contact the NPRHS they'll be happy to assist you plus invite you to become a member of their society as well.

Item: Wouldn't you just love to see and be able to ride a North Coast Limited Cruise Train all decked out in the Lowey two tone green scheme in Century 21?  I think it would be a complete success since it would serve Yellowstone National Park.

Carl, according to the book “Northern Pacific Diesel Era”, the white stripe of the Loewy scheme was 2.5 inches wide at the rear of A units and all along B units. Looking at color photos of locos coupled to passenger cars, the stripe width on the cars appears to be the same. That’s all I could find in a quick look through my references.

Have you joined the Northern Pacific Railway TellTale group on Groups.io ??  That is the online discussion group of the NPRHA. It costs nothing and NPRHA membership isn’t required. I can think of several guys there, especially Bill Kuebler and Dean O’Neill, who should be able to answer your questions. Good luck!

I just joined the group.  Thanks for the suggestion as well as the A and B unit information.

An NPRHA member replied 50 minutes after I submitted my question via their website email.

It is, in fact, 2.5".  An NP F-3 A unit paint diagram was included in the member's reply.
