What is the history and present use of the NS branch that comes off the Pittsburgh Main with a wye at South Fork PA and travels right through the historic site of the Johnstown Flood?  It looks well maintained with lots of double track.  But then it ends and I see no large industry along it.

The South Fork Secondary is home to some of the steepest grades on the the Pittsburgh Division (over 3% in places).  Because of the heavy grades and sharp curves, it is also home to NS's SD80MAC fleet.  It's not uncommon to see 5 of these 5000hp behemoths (3 on one end and two on the other) moving 100+ car coal trains over this line.  It currently runs 35 miles south from South Fork serving 3 mines; 1 in Windbar, PA and 2 more in Carinbrook.
