It will be interesting to see what kinds of changes take place.

Probably not very many, if any.
Only time will tell....... You know what they say about a new broom.....
Possibly new retro uniforms and different lettering on NS rolling stock…. “Squires is a graduate of Amherst College, where he received a bachelor of arts in Ancient Greek in 1983”

Does that mean NS crews will have to start wearing toga's?

The next NS commercial will have an "Animal House" theme.

I am a bit surprised that Mark Manion didn't get the job.
Jim:
I was surprised when Squires was named president a few years back as, like you, I thought Mark would have the inside track. Insofar as Jim being named CEO now, that was more or less pre-ordained when NS elevated him to president in 2013.
I guess there is a certain precedent at work here too given that both Southern and N&W seemed to favor lawyers as CEO's over operating people.
The next question to be answered is who will replace Don Seale as CMO.
Curt
Whither goes steam on NS with another round of musical chairs? Thumbs up or thumbs down? Here we go again....
TOGA TOGA TOGA!!!!! Better check NS stock price.

No mention of resurrecting "Pevler Blue". So far, so good.

So what about Wick? He was a great guy!
So what about Wick? He was a great guy!
What about him? Did you read the press release carefully?
Yeah (just now as I was at work earlier) but he was a good CEO why mess with what works? Though I'm sure Squires was well connected with the CEO's decisions.

Don't even speak of it Gilly...
Mike:
Wick is 63 and NS has a mandatory retirement age of 65. Wick will continue as executive chairman for another two years, during which time both NS and Squires will continue to benefit from his knowledge and experience.
Since the merger with N&W, NS has been meticulous about their succession planning and the long transition period you see here is typical of their measured approach.

I wonder who is next in line....Manion, Ehlers....

Maybe done faster to defend against the possibility of a merger or takeover. CSX & NS were approached by our friends to the north to merge.
