It's been at least a few months, but Penn Central SD70ACe 1073 finally came back through Pittsburgh on intermodal 25Z. As with the last time I saw it in 2018, there were some nice dings in the paint, this time on the cab frame. Unlike last time, 1073 had an extraordinarily loud detuned K5LLA (my camera electronically compensated). The train was slowing for a stop signal at Leetsdale before being recrewed at Conway.

I don't like to brag, particularly since I don't chase these units obsessively. I'm content with having caught all of the "home rail" units multiple times. PRR (3), PC (2), Conrail (2).

The Southern version was hanging around Harrisburg, PA last week, first as a DPU, then as the lead unit.   Was also fortunate to see the Illinois Terminal version earlier this year at Hbg in the early morning mist.  Sorry no pictures, I was driving 18 wheels.  How many are there ?

There are 20 predecessor road schemes split between SD70ACes and ES44ACs. Additionally, there are the Veterans, First Responders and GoRail SD60Es (6920, 911, 6943?); the First Responders GP38-2 (5642), a Portsmouth Belt Lines unit (5260), and Erie-Lackawanna SD45-2 1700. That makes a total of 26 on just NS.

The IT unit is known as the "Glow Worm" among the West Slope railfans.
