Lookiing through old copies of Mainline Modeler from the late 1980's (is this mag still published?), I discover all kinds of interesting things, such as Gloor Craft (which I thought was related to Weaver, headquartered in Ohio then), and that there was a brass, painted model of the EMD AB-6 for the Rock Island "Rocky Mountain Rocket". The ad says, "NOW in HO". Was this offered in O scale?? It was a Key ad, Japanese address, with Sunset listed as the U.S. distributor. Also found S scale brass RDC-3's, too, advertised.

No AB6 in O scale. Only some custom builds out there. Key Model Imports has added this fine model to the reservations list if you wish to make a reservation contact Wasatch Model Company.
MLM is gone. Sadly great magazine. Robert Hundman was a great asset to the hobby.
MM ran from January 1980 til August 2006 and had some very nice articles covering prototype modeling. Quite a few of the drawings were done in O scale.
I have all the issues and scanned the index of each so I could look up something when the mood struck.
Hundman did a lot of the drawings himself, I wonder if he just burnt out or was it an illness that ended the magazine? He was also an vocal opponent when the RRs were trying to stop model companies from using old fallen flag logos w/o compensation.
Mainline Modeler was the best. Bob Hundman was a draftsman - his first published drawings were of Southern's PS4 in the 25th anniverary issue of Model Railroader in 1959. Think tough finances brought the demise of MM.
I built quite a few models using his drawings. He graciously gave us permission to use a drawing in OGR. Free! A good guy.
A modeler magazine like MM will probably never be done again. Great articles and drawings. Got to meet builders like Hideo Uchino whose work was inspirational, also many others as well. Kept most of the issues, use for reference frequently. If you were a builder, MM is what you reached for. Always glad to see it arrive. Another Fallen Flag, too bad!
I have a complete set for sale $400.00 plus postage (will be high) best to pick them up. Bob
Apparently there is no such link as there is no response.

Only 3 months till the March Meet and we can talk to both Mr. D. and Roger Lewis about fun things like this!
It was talked about pretty heavily on the 2nd run of early E units and is still a viable project from I was told last we talked. Dave Devita also wanted to do TA's and possibly others. It has been a good year since we talked about it and some orders were placed but not enough to make a project, (yet)(?).
Merlyn Lauber gathered a lot of reservations but it is still in limbo. I also see no spot on the website regarding these models but there never was.. Don't ask me why; I don't know.
Yes, talk to Dave and Roger they will be happy to discuss things like this. At least Dave does with me.
I have the only early as delivered E6 in full Rocket he built for me in 2013. I love it!
Still dreaming for a run of Alco FAs from Key...
Me too Rule292!!! Me too.
There were only 2 AB-6's built, and they originally only ran between Limon and Colorado Springs within Colorado. This would not get much attention from commercial modelmakers, except after that service ended, they were moved to Chicago to power Rock Island commuter trains for nine years, which should have provided a wider audience.
This is my HO Overland Models AB6 with the added 2nd prime mover and baggage door removed still in full Rocket..(the era I prefer) The following photos are taken by me.
It is an exceptional piece produced by Ajin about 10 years ago. They are rare and only 12 were imported.

Only 12 from Overland, in HO, no less, or maybe I should say, "No more?" so I wonder how many from Erie? I would suspect "Brother Love" could whip one out in O gauge/scale.

For sure Santiago!
We love Key!
Colorado Highrailer maybe a 3D print project.. Anyone have a million dollar 3D printer they want to share to come up with a master?
Malcom I know could make this model in O! I would be willing to dissect a Key E7 for this project.
Colorado High Railer... I goofed it's 18 total in that run from 2007. I have model 12 of 18. Oh my oh me.. Still .."no more?... I have a tendency to goof up on numbers when I have not seen them for a bit.
nontheless not very many for HO that's über low production by any means. O scale numbers frankly. I sold one maybe 4 years ago for $1200 on eBay.

This seems like a good candidate for a 3D printer to create a plastic shell that could be mounted on an existing E6 frame. An existing E6 B-unit shell and frame could be used as the starting point.
