I was under the impression that the individual store managers were the ones who decided what magazines to carry or not carry. You might be better off asking the manager of your local B&N.
I personally prefer to subscribe. Don't have to worry about missing an issue that way.
Andy
Agreed.
As soon as I know if I will still have a job next month I will subscribe.
Andy is correct...decisions like this are made by individual store managers. Talk to him if the store no longer carries OGR.
Most Barnes & Noble stores sell OGR.
It is really spotty. The store in Wilkes Barre, Pa carries it but none of the larger stores in the Lehigh Valley do.....not sure why that happens
Will do Rich! At one time he carried it, so I am not sure what happened.
Do any online train stores carry it?
So far I cannot find it in my regular haunts.
Mine carries it, but generally runs out within two weeks.

Jason's Trains carries it:

I've seen OGR in the BN store at the Promenade Mall in Center Valley, which tends to target an upscale market.

In the B&N in Portage, Michigan they stock O Gauge Railroading and many other model railroad magazines. There was just one issue left on Saturday.

The B&N I work at in Virginia Beach stopped carrying OGR about a year ago but we still carry CTT, in fact we usually have a surplus when the new issue comes in. I asked my coworker who maintains our newsstand section if we could start carrying OGR again and he said corporate allows him no input into what we carry and don't carry. I am too far down the food chain to question policy, so... if your local B&N carries both OGR and CTT please continue to come in and buy one or both.

I believe your coworker is misinformed, although it may not be his fault. Many B&Ns carry OGR and many carry both OGR, CTT, and other train magazines (including our local B&N in Boardman, OH).
of course if I could get a NOOK subscription I'd buy today.
Although I CAN go thru certain cyber-gyrations each month and get an issue to work on the Nook it would be far more convenient to just buy a subscription and have it auto-loaded.
It depends on how many of the stores customers are into trains. If a magazine don't sell the manager will stop getting it.
my local B&N carries them, but not a lot of copies, they only seem to last about a week to 10 days.
The one I go to in Montclair, CA stocks OGR, that "other O gauge magazine" and Model Railroader.
I used to get it at a local hobby shop until they closed several years ago and have subscribed ever since with no problems except a couple issues ago when I walked to the street to get a package i was expecting from the mailman he said the label came off this but it must be yours since your the only one on my route that gets it lol. But now all my favorite train magazines are delivered to my door.
I think I'm it for three rail here so no OGR at the B&N. Don
PM is actually cheaper. If I want a printed issue, I have time to get it!
Both the BNs out my way carry. That's where I pick mine up. I know what you say about subscriptions, but BN is like the last bookstore standing here, and I try to give them as much business as possible.
