Oil based paint question

If something is repainted in oil based paint, how easily will basic handling eat the paint off? I was told you have to handle them with gloves or a towel. That's ridiculous.

Someone may have mistaken the statement: don't handle an engine that's been cleaned BEFORE painting it or the oils in your skin may not allow a good adhesion for the paint. I paint all my engines with Scalecoat (enamel base) with no problems.
