So...Bill was the only one with any nerve. Bill, I think I saw that car being pulled past my house last week by the local train running to Snow Hill!

OK, we all know the guys who can not post on this...their layouts look too good.

But, that still leaves many of us "regular" people whose layouts do not look that great.

Where are they? Surely you have a picture.

Oh, I don't know that that's so bad...what's the thread count on those fake snow sheets?!

I run carpet layouts for now till I clear a hole in the spare room of the basement...so aside from questionable carpet...I got nothin! 

Bill, wow- what happened to that car? Either someone didn't like chessie or it got under a downpour of tar/oil...still, not as bad as the pre-merger cascade green Q cars{yeah, I said that-hehehe}.

The car has had a rough time! (LOL) One might think it was in a flood!  Actually, that was my first-ever attempt to experiment with rust-all. Still working on it, but now the graffiti artists have discovered it.

Finally, a layout photo contest for us real guys. This one is N scale. Of course all my O gauge stuff is better.

And a work table to match! 

And I raise you one temporary O27 layout !

My layout is just an oval poking out from under my bed at the moment, but I've got a plenty messy workbench (complete with lazy hound dog.)

Forget the layout..... Love the hound dog!

Good that you guys got ahead of me. To keep things "clean" on the forum, would you mind deleting your bench posts and putting them on the new one.

Leave those layout picts, they are what I am looking for.

OK, use your imagination.  There is 'water/swamp/lake/whatever' there.  I just have to display those bridges.  A "High-Railer" or scenic guru I'm not.  I'm the polar opposite of Frank 53 and Norm.

My layout certainly doesn't measure up to most of the layouts posted on the forum and probably doesn't even qualify for the Brotherhood of Crappy basement layouts.  Nevertheless I love it.

Here it is looking south in the first photo and looking north in the second.

Here's my temp layout - Just put up since we moved to Charlotte. We are renting for a year while we have a house built by this summer -

heres my workbench area.  3 x 16ft area.

anytime we see a public layout(Carniege Science Center,Ogelby,) the Boss tell me i should make mine look like these. Between working 21 turn,lack of patence,and there are times I just go down to run some trains and end up pulling up track and changing things around,I like my plain green painted plywood.

Ah, the bare table, that's what I have.

I did just finish cleaning it up and wiping down the track. Tidied up the wiring to make it more secure, after all I am the Chief Engineer of the Temporarily Permanent Railroad Company.

I have never tried scenery, yet! Maybe one of these days.

Why not? Maybe just a simple brush on of "grass" green...some bumps here and there for a change of scenery{terrible pun}, some ballast....viola. Mind you, this dio was for my armor models back when I built those{got burnt out of them}, but I'll do it all again for my layout when that happens.

Bill, when you wish to re-rust that car, why not try a bottle of modelmaster acrylic "rust" or "burnt sienna"...use an air brush to control it as a wash or a solid color application, or, just a paint brush and some time. I've used both of those on my model tanks and cars for a nice rusty look...alittle baking soda or fine sand as a base with those colors over it gives it that crusty look too.

Andre, as you requested, Missouri Pacific and Texas & Pacific diesels.

I have MTH units, MP F3's,MP geep 9's, T&P geep 7 and 9, Atlas T&P Geep 7 dummy,  Atlas GP35 dummy, Atlas U23B, and my favorites the MTH U30C's amoung others. Also, my test engine, Lionel MPC MP geep 7 that testes all the track as it has not electronics to burn up.  

I do not have TMCC, so the Atlas U23B is run contentional.   

Nice Mop stuff, Dan!  (I miss the Mop.)  I really like the Mop's blue/gray scheme, too.

It is comforting to know that there are only 2 dozen or so "ugly" layouts, and all the rest are good ones.

I had thought we would have seen more. Looks like they are not out there.

They ARE out there ... but some guys is too lazy to photograph them or too proud to show them.

What is really scary is a FINISHED layout. Then what do you do without something to work on?!
