Spectacular shots of the world's only still-operational steam-powered snowplow. The Xrot 9213, also known as the Bernina Monster, easily moves trough high walls of winter snow that fall on the Bernina Line. In January 2013, we accompanied the ride with a GoPro Hero 3 camera.

We are looking forward to next winter! http://www.rhb.ch/Dampfschneeschleude...

Tip: At the end of the video, the Bernina Monster meets another piece of railway history. Stay tuned!

Just wish for a longer video and maybe without music...

I'm not aware of any US Leslie type rotary plows that are self propelled. Every picture, wood cut, and diagram I've ever seen gives no evidence of this being a US design feature. Even the more recent UP units, which have an on board diesel engine, use it strickly to drive the wheel.  In fact, this is first time I've ever seen a self propelled rotary. I hope the boiler is big enough to provide enough steam for both the wheel and traction.

Thanks Lafondue, for another neat video.

You're welcome...

as you mentionned the pusher was added for deep snow and also due to some tight curves
