When was the former PRR main reduced to 2 tracks? PC era or Conrail? Or did PRR take care of that? I know NYC was forward thinking and modernized their mainline early.
On the former PRR Middle Division, part of today's Pittsburgh line, Conrail pulled up the third track in 1985. PRR had begun removal of the fourth track beginning in 1955 between Newport and Mifflin.
