Any particular significance to the red "P" in the logo versus all white? Just wondering.

No real significance. Penn Central used an orange "C" in the logo too. There were approximately 126 various locos that had the red "P". GP40 3170 through 3186 and RS3 5585 were the only units that had the orange "C". This information is from a Micro Scale decal instruction set. Doug
Legend has it that the red P was in reference to the PRR. It was an experiment that didnt last long because they turned into Pink P's anyways. The Orange C, similarly, was an attempt to show inclusion when the New Haven was absorbed into the system, and again, did not last long or get widespread.
The mating worms logo and yhe PC paint scheme for locomotives screams late 1960's!
I grew up along the former PRR Middle Division in central PA and can remember seeing engines with the red “P” no more than maybe a dozen times. Never saw one with the orange “C”.
