there is already a subway market in o gauge nth has been making subways since 1999,it would be nice if lionel made it because they have the license and they have been putting whole routes in the sounds and thats pretty neat

I agree with Sirt. There has to be enough interest in a model to even consider new tooling. I don't see any new tooling being done in this climate with maybe the exception of the European line. Another thing to consider is manufactures want to get "mileage"out of the new tooling with being able to produce a model with more than one paint scheme or road name. I've been waiting for a Boston subway to be produced but I think it's going to be a long wait if at all.
I hope MTH re release the R32's, it would be nice since the newer people that are into the hobby want them but can't afford the eBay prices, mth should continue to make O scale subways as well, hopefully they do, HO scale is good but I would like to see more O scale models, I don't think Lionel is gonna make a subway set for awhile but it would be nice if they did a vision Line version of an R32

The R143 (and R143a) are longer cars for the B Division (IND and BMT lines).  They were built by Kawasaki.

The R 143 are Longer and wider than the 142 and 142a.  The R143 is 60 feet long compared to 51 feet for the 142 series. The 142 series is 8' 9" wide and the R143 is 9' 9" wide     The R142 and 142A are almost identical  Some differences on the undercarriage give them away  They were built by two different manufacturers  Bombardier and Kawasaki.

The R143 and R160 are very similar  Some small differences like the location of the flag and the front steps give it away

Mike Wolf probably wound not spend his companies money to have any new dies made for NYC Subway Cars unless he get a new contract from the New York State MTA.

As for Lionel the same probably holds true as they are nearing the end of their contract with the NYS MTA. In their 2014 catalog Lionel plans to produce a set of M-7 railroad cars but they are listed as being subway cars. It was interesting to see that MTH plans to build a NYC Subway Car set (R-17s) in sheet metal for standard gauge, nice.

First, you WILL see another M-7 set from Lionel. I too asked to do an exclusive for a run in the 4 figures and they also said no and for good reason. We sell alot of starter sets and they were afraid that these would cut into those sales and I am sure they are correct. So rather than make it a special set we will see it again in the future. Hopefully this time with dual motors to pull all the cars.
