In quest of air-electric PCC car photos, I set out on several trips to Pittsburgh in August 1977, September 1978, August 1979 and September 1981.  At that time only the South Hills lines were left and only 20-30 air-electric PCC cars remained.  The bulk of the fleet was post-war 1700 all-electric PCCs.

The photos:

1. An end of rush hour line up of trolleys waiting to enter the South Hills Tunnel. In the background is the Monongahela Incline. September 1978.

2. 1776 on Liberty near Penn Station, August 1977.

3. 1707 turning onto Liberty from Grant, August 1977

4. Dormont wye, the last gravity wye in North America, September 1978.

5. Penn Station, August 1977.

6. Penn Station, back of the post office and the Greyhound Terminal from the hotel, October 1981.
