When I type "SD40-2" in the Text Search field I get parts for every SD40-2 that Lionel manufactured.
Try entering the product # ie 6-19637 or the Road name of the unit your looking for. IE. Southern pacific.
Like Pcracer says the item# of the loco usually works best. Most parts for most locos from about the year 2000 are listed. If your loco is older I'm sure there are resistors from other smoke units that will work.

If you still can't find what you need, send an email to Lionel customer service "service repair" question link. I've gotten quick helpful responses regarding parts inquiries. http://www.lionel.com/ContactUs/

When on the parts page and looking for a smoke resistor, dont look under product number, use replacement part number or name. Also just look for resistor or smoke resistor.

Also, just contact them and ask. I did that once and got a reply the next day. They are a great help. Don
