Can I run the polar express trolley with the z1000 accessory port. And the train with the main terminal hook up? This is the anniversary train so it has the power pack not a transformer that's why Im asking about the z1000 I can't seem to find any info on how to do it or if in fact I can. This is a Christmas gift for my grandson and I would love for it to be a wow kind of gift. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

Here is the straight dope on this set.
So long as the track has proper voltage, then you can run the PE Berkshire with the Lion Chief remote on that track. You are not obligated to use the power pack that comes with the set, though I would because that is how Lionel set her up to run on.
Power on track is everything, but the Berkshires in these 10th Anniversary sets can only run with their unique signature/signaled remotes included in that particular set.
So, say I want to run my PE set on your track. I bring the PE train to your house and set her on the track. So long as there is power, I can run my PE independent of your PE set and on the same track. However, there must be enough voltage to do that. Hope this helps.

If the 14v accessory output doesn't run the trolley too fast yes.
The trolley will go back and forth at one speed, bump and go. If it is too fast there are ways to slow it down by adding things internally later.
I would check the specs in the back of the Z1000 book for maximum accessory amperage, since I don't know its max amps. It needs to supply up to about 6a max for a trolley, but I suspect it could be a much lower amount needed by the new trolleys. As low as 3-4a might be fine. Test by running it with, and without the other train running for indications of slowing from maxing the supply out. As a kid, I would take an unsealed box with a confirmed working trolley over a possible sealed dud any day.
You can use both power supplies as long as no rails on the trolley track, touch rails for the train & z1000. Using two supplies they must be "phased" together to share wires. Simple, a 10 year old can learn to do it. (good Lionel video on you tube).
But if rails don't touch why not use both for better control.
He will have a blast with that trolley no matter what. I did Great choice!
