I know from years of experience with McCoy brand trains it is impossible to keep the little wagon wheels in one piece. After doing research on the subject found out these issues were caused by McCoy using left over slag from earlier castings. This material can only be heated one time-throw the excess and slag away! Had the front truck of an expensive loco fall apart on me one day and luckily I found someone that machined me a new exact replica out of a block of aluminum. It's good to have talented friends There are replacement wagon wheels sold on ebay that are of a lot higher quality than the originals and have bought numerous sets of them myself.
