Question, do you have to have a video on U Tube in order to post here, or can it be posted from your desktop? I went to search the past posts on this issue, but cannot find any answer that says how to do it. They seem to imply that videos must come through U Tube. I've tried to paste one into the "film" window on a new post but just get the box with a "f" in it.
If you want to EMBED a video (have it play in its own window right within a post like this....
...then the video has to be hosted on YouTube, Vimeo or any of the other video hosting services that provide the appropriate embed code. Videos uploaded and hosted in this way are saved in a format and codec that every computer can play.
You could upload a video from your own computer via the Add Attachment function, however there is a potential problem here. The video on your computer may not play properly on another computer if it is not configured to play whatever format video you choose to attach. Also, there is a file size limit when uploading attachments. Since videos can easily reach into multiple Gigabytes in size, you won't be able to upload a video unless it is highly compressed or very short. Highly compressed video typically looks awful.
Best bet? Get an account with You tube and embed videos from there.
