Postwar plasticville specialist question!

I had this kit when I was a kid, and wish they were still available. The bottle contained some kind of thinner. You dipped the point of the brush into the bottle, dabbed a little on the dots and PRESTO! you had paint. There were probably all sorts of carcinogens in the stuff and I'll bet you'd never be able to market the kit today.

I still have some of the figures, and they still look good on the layout.

I vaguely remember a small bottle of fluid (paint thinner?)  to wash the brush. 

By the way, did anyone ever use the paint that came in the box? I remember going to the hobby shop and buying Testor's model paints for that purpose. 

It's pretty cool that the set is still mostly in tact too after all these years.

Yea- I bet you couldn't sell any of those paints these days.

Pick up a lead test from Home Depot and see what you've got.

It reads “painting fluid” in the guide, but what does this 1950’s term actually mean in this plasticville #PF-4?

I wondered if these paints Plasticville paints were leaded? 
So, the little testors square glass jar paints (were A whopping 15  cents in my neighborhood Woolworths)) were enamels? i used them on aurora model kits. 
Anyway, the bottle in question May have had Thinner. 

Warning. The bottle contains carbon tetrachloride. Bachman used that paint for their plastic model birds also.

Off topic, but I love those old oak tables. Any chance of a picture of the table and the legs, please?

I built two of the birds, the scarlet taninger (sp) and the yellow bird with black/white wings. Had to remember to paint the lighter colors first, as the brush tended to foul (nice pun) the thinner.

I'm not sure what it actually was, but, Testors Liquid cement worked same as to use that paint. Used that numerous times. I'm new guy to the forum. Been reading it for years but  I had to sign on so I could become a 

supporting Member. 

  I'm not sure what was in the bottle, but when I ran out I wrote to them and they sent me 4 bottles ! Still have the figures on my layout.

LeeRoof.   No problem. Imagine trying to sell that today!

I have that set of Plasticville people and the wheel of paint pills except my box cover had a colored picture of the people to use as a guide.  I used paint thinner to paint the people and have used that paint to paint many more people and still have some left of some colors.  Paint thinner is plastic friendly.
