My SF Warhorse Hudson has a problem with sound. When in idle, the sounds are perfect, when the engine starts to move, the sounds keep cutting in and out.  I checked and cleaned the track and checked the pickup rollers, all are in good shape.  Any suggestions on what could be wrong or what I can check next?

"IS this a proto-1,2 or 3 engine?"

No, it's Lionel.

Anyway -

Sometimes the IR drawbar gets mis-aligned, and with the movement of running and track variations, the two ends (tender/loco) can quit talking.

Check the alignment with the loco/tender coupled and sitting on straight, level track. The drawbars can be gently bent up or down by hand to re-align them. (Also - is there any trash on the IR "windows" on each end?)
