I bought some metal trucks at a large train show in PA.  They are all metal except for the pickup roller housing.  I wanted to drill a .089" hole in the metal truck frame that holds the two side frames.  I thought it would be no problem drilling in just above one of the sideframes.  I tried several brand new bits I had including a cobalt drill bit.  Nothing made a dent in the metal.  I ended up taking it to work and trying it on their drill press with some of their brand new bits.  I ended up getting a solid carbide drill bit and putting some serious pressure on the drill bit.

Has anyone ever tried to drill a hole into a truck frame and had difficulty?

Does anyone recognize this truck and know who made them?

I don't know who made these trucks, but I now have no fears of stepping on one and doing any damage.
