Hey everyone,

I have a Legacy Lindbergh Atlantic. I understand that Lionel had extra cars to go with the engine but they had an O-54 turning radius. I only have O-36.

So I was wondering what you guys would recommend when it comes to PRR Passenger Cars. I know MTH makes some good ones but not to sure yet what to get.

Thanks!

They might be a bit "late" for an atlantic, but I purchased some newer railking pennsy passenger cars to go behind my scale k4.While not exactly scale, they'd be close if ever there were prtotypical 60' cars. I needed cars that would look good going around o-48 and they do just that without looking 0-27 small behind my cale k4. The only minor drawback is I have to add passengers, outside of that I'm very happy with them. I can add some photos later if you like.http://www.trainworldonline.co...ssenger-set-30-69121

Hey Thanks for the info Rick!

Please post pictures because I would love to get an idea of what they look like. The computer generated catalog picture does nothing for me.

Plus Madison cars are what I'm looking for anyways. The E6 Atlantics were in service all the way up till the end of steam and pulled Madison cars.

I have streamlined cars now and they don't look right behind an E6.

I own the Legacy "Lindbergh" E6 Atlantic and the 6-25619 special passenger car 2-pack. The E6 is specified for 0-31 curves. I have run the matching two Lindbergh Special car set with this engine on 0-42 curves with absolutely no problems. Because the two 18" cars are intended for the engine, they may readily do 0-36 curves, as well, although they may 'look' a bit strange running on them. I seriously doubt that the 0-54 specification communicated to you is correct. The cars are, well, special to this E6 with the baggage car being fitted with modeled film development equipment and they complete the train from a historical perspective. You may want to double check.

Owning the Lindbergh Special 2-pack doesn't stop you from buying other PRR passenger equipment for the E6 for the fun of it, too. For example, additional Lionel 18" PRR heavies that I have on hand match the 2-pack cars perfectly in color and 'feel'.

Hope this helps.

Hey Bob!

Thanks for the information!

I will definitely shop around and see if I can get my hands on them and test them to see if they run on O-36. I'm not worried about protoypical look I just want something that looks good behind the E6.

Thanks again!

Thanks for posting the pictures Rick!

Those are really nice cars!

I like the one car that has "Colonel Lindbergh" on it!

Thanks again!

Mike,

If you can borrow any two 18" Lionel heavyweights from a friend or local dealer, you can then operate the configuration and determine whether or not the Lindbergh Special 2-pack will work for you. Have fun with whatever you decide upon.

Bob

You might try ebay or if you go to York you might find some there. You can search the web also. They do run on 036 min curve. You might look at the Williams Bachmann Madison cars and they are available pretty reasonable but shop around you'll eventually find what you want. Caution if you do go with Williams it's best to ask questions as there are alot of early versions with fixed couplers and plastic truck sides. It's best to go with the WBB versions.
