I have an MTH U.P. Aerotrain from 2012 with a ProtoSound 3.0 label on the frame but NO DCS/DCCswitch.
I've been told that one of the major differences between a PS 2 and PS 3 engine is the dual DCS/DCC capability but my PS 3 0 engine doesn't have a DCC/DCC switch. Why not? The engine's frame does have a slot along the edge labeled DCS/DCC but it's EMPTY WITH NO SWITCH. If this engine is really a PS 3.0 with DCS/DCC capability then how am I supposed to choose between the two modes without a switch?
*This U.P. Aerotrain is from the 2011, vol. 2 catalog that advertised it as being PS 2.0 but when delivered in early 2012 it had PS 3.0 electronics. There is mention on MTH's website about this model being delivered with PS 3.0electronics but no mention of the missing switch or DCS/DCC capability. So, is this engine really PS 3 without that switch? Btw, it does have a supercap instead of the battery PS 2 engines have.
