You guys are good as gold...This place is incredible!  Thanks to OGR forum I finally found and acquired the MTH 20th Century LTD...now, I'm a surgeon, in the process of amputation of legs to permanently seat colorful passengers from Lionel for their excursions around water level route here in Storm Lake!

Two questions (plus one extra credit) :

1. Why do all my PS-3 locomotives "start up" when initial 18 volts is applied to track? Brand new Dreyfuss of PS-2 does not.  PS-3 Empire State Hudson, NYC GP-9 and new Wabash E-8 all throttle up no matter how slowly I apply 18 volts to track.

2.  Is there a reason, while running 4 trains on (1) DCS constant voltage output, a random locomotive will suddenly shift to "warp speed" and become uncontrollable?  I'm sure it's operator error, but, WHAT am I doing?

Extra credit: Why does the PSA for the Wabash E-8 (of which, I purchased 2) give an historical account of the prototype or diesel after which this engine was modeled?  How do I get regular passenger/freight announcements and get rid of the history lesson?!

Extra, extra credit (I'm a pastor, however, I can promise NO indulgence)...why does MTH no longer provide paperwork detailing soft key operation on a thousand dollar locomotive?

Thanks, guys...we got another 6" of heavy wet snow added to our 11" from Saturday and I'm not able to plant my petunias!  Perhaps, with your help, I can play with my ponies...the iron ones!

The LORD be with you,  Bradley+

I was going to let others post but no one has yet?

1) PS3 locos starting up could be a wire routing problem. The cure to that was posted here by Willy G.

2) shouldn't be anything you are doing. You need to state the exact model number of the engine. Best guess would be a wire shorting or a tether with a problem.

3) if you don't like the sounds, you can swap them with other like files.

4) cost savings? they are online with each model under the support tab. Most of us have several engines with all the same papers gets redundant.

Watch your back with the heavy snow! God Bless.
