I believe the PS/2 3V boards support two smoke units. My question is, do the diesel PS/3 boards also support two smoke units?

FYI, so do the PS2 5 volt boards.
Barry, only if they're modified. I don't know when they did that in production, if ever. I just wondered if the PS/3 boards were up to handling two smoke units, I want to put them in an AA Centipede set with two smoke units.
In this post, GGG says a PS3 board will support an extra smoke unit.

So he does. I though it would, but I wanted to make sure before toasting the PS/3 smoke drivers.
I just finished upgrading a DDA40X with the PS3 Beta kit. It does support the two smoke units.
Yep, it's working fine, no issues and nothing cookin' on the board.
John,
I don't know when they did that in production, if ever.
My 5 volt Premier transfer diesel has 2 smoke units.
Good point Barry, so does mine!
I guess at some point they made the change...
Barry, so does DD40AX 20-2432-1.
I had to make the mod to a 5V board some time back when someone wanted to add a smoke unit to a dummy from the locomotive. When I checked the components on the 5V board, they were the ones that only supported one smoke unit, or at least that's what the ASC manual says.
However, as Barry says, the transfer engine does have two smoke units, and mine runs both of them just fine.
