I have a new CSX dash 8 and it runs great but when lashing it up to a proto 2 loco the ditch lights don't stay on all the time. They do flash when the button is pushed but then go back to dark. Any thoughts? I have all the things on via the handheld so I'm not sure what it could be. When running alone it operates as it should be.

Hi david1,
Are you using the Dash 8 as the lead engine?
Have you tried adjusting the ditch lights setting after creating the lash-up?
Dave
Yes it is the lead engine and have tried to adjust them when in the lash up but to no avail. Could be a problem that nobody caught when testing Ps3. Another PS3 engine is on it's way and I'll see if that corrects the problem when they are lashed up.
David,
The way to do what you want is on pages 101-102 of The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition (Caution: because of bug in DCS first ensure that both engines are associated with the same TIU):
However, individual member engine settings may be changed after the lashup has been created and started up.
This may be accomplished as follows:
• After the lashup is started up, press the ENG key to view the Engine List
• Highlight the member engine whose lashup settings are to be changed by either scrolling to it using the thumbwheel or entering its one or two digit DCS ID# using the number keys to highlight the engine. If it's not in the Active Engine List, highlight it and press the thumbwheel to place it in the Active Engine List, and then highlight it again
• Press the thumbwheel to show the engine in the DCS Remote's Engine Control Screen, however, DO NOT START UP THE ENGINE!
• Use DCS menu functions or engine soft keys to make whatever changes are desired to the lashup settings for the selected PS2 member engine. These settings will become active as you select them
• Return to the Engine Control Screen and press ENG to display the Active Engine List
• Highlight the lashup by either scrolling to it using the thumbwheel or entering its one or two digit DCS ID# using the number keys
• Press the thumbwheel to show the lashup in the DCS Remote's Engine Control Screen.
The changed settings will be in effect every time you start up the lashup until the lashup is broken down into member engines. This occurs whenever one of the member engines is selected in the Engine Control Screen and the Start Up key is pressed. At this time, each member engine has its feature settings reset to factory defaults, except for the engine's DCS ID# and Custom Name, if one was assigned. This is necessary since there is room in the PS2 engine's onboard memory to store only one set of engine settings at a time, the lashup settings or the PS2 engine's settings.
This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!
Thanks for your response Barry, I'll give it a try plus I'll order your book, should have before.
