I have been making my 1st PS3 upgrade. I am not sure on how to handle the sound & smoke POTs. The manual gives instructions on the sound POT  by not attaching the 2 wires and insulating them. Does this also work on the smoke POT?  Page 14 of the manual gives instruction for the front coupler hook up using the black & purple harness. This is not in agreement with the wiring diagram which shows Brown & Blue. which should be used?

My first though is The PS2 upgrade kit is much more friendly to use than the PS3 kit. the 40 pin connector is hard to sort through looking for the proper hook-up.

Thanks!

Having many upgrades under my belt,   I tell everyone to read the book.   you seem to have read the book by my observations.    After you get the first hundred upgrades under your belt, you will know where every wire goes.  I see many self proclaimed experts that are above reading the book get in trouble.  The DCS upgrades are ok to do if you understand every step.

I Agree Marty I do try and read the books. I did get to the point with PS2 up grades I could do them without the manual, but I always kept where I was working.  I only upgrade my Locomotives, I think I have done about 89 at this time. I have blown some boards. You learn by doing.

Thanks you all for your advise, and have a nice day!
