I happen to read and see the pictures of the beautifully detailed Frank Mullen's O Gauge 3-Rail Layout. But I happened to see in the picture and also in the article of a Manufacturing Building he has on his layout. It's Elish Manufacturing or N&R Elish Manufacturing. I was curious to know where the name came from and who built this model? The reason I ask is because my last name is real close to the name on the building which my last name is Elesh. So, I thought I would ask because this building and it's name really interest me. Also his article is really true to what I'm doing to our family's layout. When me and my family see a new building and buy one or scratch build one, sometimes I have to move other buildings or scenery to make that spot better or change it. Overall, Frank's layout is really nicely detailed. Which from looking at the pictures, gives me ideas that I can do to my layout. But I thought I would ask about the building.

For now, let me reply to your question about the name. Nick & Rozene and their daughter, Roberta, were dear friends of my parents. They lived in Duquesne, PA. If those folks are related to you (despite the slight spelling difference - I may have remembered it incorrectly from my youth in the 50's ,) I am overjoyed and ready for a conversation.

Maybe a photo of the building in discussion would be useful?

I was hoping to have heard from Tom Jr. about the personal aspects of his post, especially.IMG_5396IMG_5457IMG_5460However, I believe he was asking about this building and its attendant complex...Here are a few shots that did not make it into Run285.

Also forgot to add that the Article was very well done. The scene with the church on Page 42 is really nice looking.

Thank you, Tom Jr. I appreciate your saying so. I trust the extra factory photos I posted above provide more visual information about that edifice for you.

I'll hunt through my other photos to see if I have any others of that church scene on the re-done layout.

Frank, I do apologize I haven't replied to the forum. This weekend wasn't very good for me since my Grandmother is in the hospital. Also periodically working on our Layout. So this evening is the first time I've looked on the forum and seen you replied. Yes my last name is Elesh and your building says Elish so that got me very interested. Did you scratch build that building? Also, is it still on your layout? For a little history, my Dad and his parents live in Bedford Ohio for a long time and also his parents came over on the boat from Hungry to Ellis Island. Me and my family are Hungarian, so we eat around the holidays a food named Salina, which is Pork & the flavor of Paprika. But if you want to ask more question or have more of a conversation, then you could email me at   wrawroacx@windstream.net      As to what MWB mentioned about pictures, if Frank doesn't mind, I used my Picture Camera and took 4 pictures from the latest OGR Magazine. But anyway Frank, that building and it's name got me very interested in asking.

I too, am very interested in something from Frank Mullen's layout.  This is from an article in April/May 2007.  Frank, you have a five story building you called Moonrose with a water tank on top.  I want to scratch build a tank like that. I have been trying to get prototype dimensions for one so I can build it to scale but I'm having trouble.  I am doing O scale.  The scale of your tank, to the building, looks great.  Was that a kit?  Could you tell me the dimensions of it?  Any info would be great.  Thanks.  Your layout is amazing.

Its dimensions are: 6 1/2" tall;  2 3/4" wide at the top.

It was a kit, built back in the mid-90's , so I'm not certain of the manufacturer, but I think it came in a white box; however, it may have been a simple Plasticville kit, heavily weathered and "woodified".
