The Lionel parts diagram for the GG1 teruck, 600-8453-055 GG1 Pilot truck shows a spring, 600-2145-091, and two washers, 600-1053-041 and 600-2332-107. Does anyone know where these go? I cannot tell from the diagram. I have a Williams GG1 from the 1970's that I retrofitted with Lionel operating couplers. They make the truck front heavy and I eas thinking that the Lionel spring and washers was to compensate for this on the Lionel GG1. Any ideas would be appreciated. After almost 40 years dormant, I am resurrecting my Lionel stuff.

Thanks,

Bobbo

Bobbo, It will be pretty easy. I can get at mine with one screw out(beteen front and rear trucks) Note: My washers had a slot-vs-round hole. Im pretty sure the lionel GG1 does too. I also added a very thin Teflon washer for easier sliding. These parts are also used on other engines, could be your LHS (local hobby shop) already has them and is waiting on your call .

Both the camera and the loco were two feet away, the camera is kinda new for me so that made it easier to get off my duff. Those are the best close ups it takes. Glad I only borrowed it. The loco I have is a semi-scale, not the new full sized, I assumed yours is too. All the older Williams, Lionel, K-line are built very similarly. Ive had a few of each. Mine is a K-line with can motors. The first can motor loco I bought, I got it for the paint and the low price. Im very happy with it, its a very smooth runner, and after taking a rotory file to the ends of the front trucks sliding slot, on the frame, it negotiates 0-27 curves now too. There are some things to check before starting this, if you need this modification too, I have a tips diagram somewhere.
