I see the new Williams NS Heritage Dash 9 are out. The question I have regarding them is, what do they sound like and the horn sounds? I cannot find any videos on these new engines that have True Blast Plus.

Hi Tom, They sound pretty good. I would not rate them with Lionel or MTH sound systems but they will not disappoint you.
That said, unless you get one for well below the MSRP I feel they are way over priced, even more then Lionel.
For the same price you can have an MTH RK Imperial with all the bells and whistle.

GG1MAN, yea I'll wait on any of these new engines by Williams once you find one cheaper. But I thought I would ask since this is one engine I would be curious to know the horn. I am impressed on how Bachmann has put different sounds and horns into there engines. I seen the latest video on the new Switcher they have done and it has the Leslie Single Chime Horn. The new Amtrak Genesis have the correct K5LA. So I would think these Heritage Units would also have a K5LA or K5LA-R24. Only thing I do if anyone else might have a problem about the New Bachmann Heritage Units, the real NS HU's 8098 - 8105 & 8025 / 8114 are ES44AC's and the 1065 - 1074 are SD70ACe's. But Bachmann puts the ES44's as Dash 9's and the SD70's as SD90's. Only reason I have is, the body molds they have are the closest to the real thing. But it is a model train and they did make some of the NS Heritage Unit paint schemes. I find that's cool. They just haven't done all the schemes yet.
I've got two locos with the new TrueBlast Plus sound in it. I've got the GP30 and an MTH F3 that I recently had converted from PS2 to TB+ using the SD90 sound set.
I'd argue in some aspects, especially with the GP30, the sound is better than MTH or Lionel. Both sound very, very nice especially compared with the old TB2 crossing horn/tin can bell sound.
A quick search on Google brings up a good video of the SD90 sound from "the other magazine".

I really wish Williams had speed control. Sound and speed control are the options I value the most.

Yes, I just saw that video. That horn sounds like a K5LLA, but the volume on the engine must not be that loud since the horn doesn't sound real clear.
I've retro-fitted two Williams engines to the True-Blast Plus.
One was an Alco RS sound system. The sound is good (not MTH or Lionel good, but way better than the old True Blast II). So, the running sound is fine, but the horn is barely audible over the background sounds.
The other is a GP-20. The sound and the horn are really good.
I'm in the process of installing an Alco sound system into a Weaver RS without sound. I'll see if the horn comes through better.

For a better price on Williams try Train World or Mario's Trains. Even with 25% off the Bachmann website is still way over priced!!
All my Williams run very good, never had a problem with my Williams engines except for direction start up.
