The rules for the for-sale forum read...

  • Bumping is allowed under the following conditions:  Once a seller's or buyer's post has been up for a minimum of one week, an update can be made by re-posting the entire ORIGINAL listing and deleting their previous listing. This can be done once per week in order to make changes, additions, and/or refreshing it to the membership.  ...

Is there a way to copy a for-sale topic such that the attached photos will be visible in the new post?   Whenever I've tried to re-post, if I just copy and paste the contents of the original post, the pictures are not visible in the new post.  I always end up having to re-attach and insert all of the pictures.  Is there an easier way?

Thanks.

Yes, you can do this, however you must copy the html code from the post, not just the text and images. You do that by editing your original post and clicking on the <> icon in the formatting bar. That will open the html code editor. Copy ALL the code in that window to the clipboard. Then…

  • Start your new post
  • Click on the <> icon again to open the html code editor.
  • Paste the html code you just copied into the new post.
That will bring everything into the new post, including the code which points to the location of whatever images you had in your original post.
  • Save and post the new listing.
  • Delete the old post.

Done.

I have to wonder if the pictures don't get nuked when you delete the original post.

I was worried about this as well.  I used Rich's suggestion recently not only to re-post a FS listing, but I merged 2 listings together.  (Don't try this at home if you can't read HTML code.)

But as GRJ pointed out, it is not clear if the image that is being referenced gets deleted.  I wasn't willing to risk all my uploaded pictures to find out, so I left alone the original post.
