I needed at retaining wall. I designed the wall for a scaled 2x12s spaced at 12 feet apart at a height of 14 feet.
This is a problem that requires a relatively precise spacing of soldier (vertical) posts spaced evenly at 3" (12 feet) to hold the horizontal beams within the flanges of the soldier course.
Using cardboard as my base, I laser scored the width of the soldier flanges at a spacing of 3" plus the width of the soldier's web. Using a screwdriver I pressed and notched the soldier location that was scored, Then glued the soldier into the vertical notch.
The horizontal beams were laser cut from 1/8" GlowForge draft board.
and slid-in between the soldier flanges.
I scored some random wood grain lines in the board as well.
Each end of the 1/8" board was dapped to fit within the soldier flanges.
once I have all the boards in place, I will take the cardboard backed retaining wall and attach it to the retained area on the layout.
