Gentle Forum Members,
JIM R. To the best of my knowledge, working with our Team Mates at Lionel, this car was produced in the Concord, North Carolina facility. It is accurate that Lionel purchases the bodies from a plastic forming company and has them delivered as slugs to Concord for painting, decorating and assembly. This specific car had some graphic issues before production could proceed and my understanding was the corrections were made in house and we proceeded with this beautiful car.
Thank you all for your kind words, we really enjoy making these cars with Lionel for our Club Members. Your continuing support drives us forward. We are currently working on a LionScale car for 2019. Due to production schedules at Lionel it appears it will be a car for the 4th quarter 2019 or even 1st quarter 2020. We're looking at another boxcar design to supplement our program earlier in 2019. Things are in flux for the boxcar, the LionScale has the artwork complete, we're just waiting for a few "i" dots and "t" crosses to be made :-)
Hint: Think down feathers!
Happy Holidays one and all!
