I am looking to purchase a new external antenna for my SUV for railfanning. I currently use a window clip style mount with a BNC connector for a Motorola rubber duckie antenna, cut for the 160/162 mkz frequencies. Problem with this, is a non-shielded cable that gets interference from the electronics in my truck (engine, ecm, ect.) I am looking at either the Railcom model, or the Traintenna model that looks identical to the Railcom model (but cheaper), and uses a RG type shielded cable. Does anyone use these, and what are your opinions of one versus the other model? And comments would be greatly appreciated. I understand this may be a six of one, to a half dozen of the other, situation, but I'll ask anyway. Thanks to all in advance for your input!
